The
Mid-Jersey Heat Basketball program (MJH) is a non-profit youth
organization staffed entirely by volunteers. We have been
established for 4 years. MJH is an AAU-affiliated organization
for girls and boys in the central shore area of Ocean County,
New Jersey. Our home is Manchester Township which is located
7 minutes from Seaside boardwalk/beach, 30 minutes from Atlantic
City, 30 minutes from Trenton, 45 minutes from Newark, 20
minutes from Great Adventure, and 60 minutes from New York
City.
Our program offers a higher level of competition than is not
offered in recreational basketball leagues. Our main objective
is to provide “pre-, mid and after-season” play
for girls and boys who are committed to basketball and who
wish to improve their skills. The Heat Boys are coached by
Monwell Brown who is the Founding President of the club. Coach
Monwell leads the U12, U13, U15, & U16 boys. Coach Dana
Downs –U14. Coach Rommie Postadan our Vice President
of Player Development leads the U10 & U11 boys. Coach
Dave Hayes our Commissioner leads the U17 boys. Coach John
Brown leads the U13 boys on several special occasions. Also
Coach Kevin Oliver (Mello) assists Coach Monwell as needed.
Our sister program Mid-Jersey Lady Heat (MJLH) will be starting
their 4th season this year. The Heat girls are under the guidance
and leadership of Vice President and Girls Director Rick Valmon,
who coaches U14-u17. In addition, Kevin Jones - U13 girls,
and Tammy Nicolini – U10 girls, respectively.
The Heat will continue to participate on a highly competitive
AAU, YBOA, USBA, JR. NATIONALS and non-AAU level. We will
be competing in tournaments in the Metropolitan area and along
the East Coast.
Our teams maintain an intensive indoor practice and training
schedule throughout the year. All players are continuing to
excel at an expected rate. We are proud of our accomplishments.
We have rolling tryouts, throughout the year!
